Once you have decided on your brand name, it's time to build a menu. We recommend downloading this template to organize your menu.
- Pick a Concept (Cuisine) ex: Salads and Wraps
- Break it down into different categories. Try starting with 3-5 categories.
- Write down menu items within each category. Try to include 3-5 items in each category.
- Write a description for each item.
- Be sure to include detailed adjectives and provide information on portion size ("4 chicken tenders") and toppings ("Mozzarella, onions, cilantro on ciabatta bread") to give as much information as possible to the consumer.
- Price each item
- Look at the pricing for the competitors in the area to figure out how to price your food
- Remember that the delivery platforms often have $5+ in fees so a $15 item might end up costing the consumer about $20+.
- Create Modifiers
- Modifiers are a group of items that can be applied to any food item to allow modifications. This is where you can upsell an item!
- Group the modifiers into unique groups and name each modifier group
- Modifiers can be required or optional and you may have limitations on them as well.
- Avoid second-tier (Nested) Modifiers as most delivery platforms do not allow them
- Price each Modifier. Don't be afraid to charge more for extra toppings and sides!
- Assign modifier groups to the appropriate items.
